The world is wasting money again beleiving that “this time, this vertion of the OS will be useful”. I doubt it. Whatever the reviews say… MS cried wolf too many times, and I am fed up with their concept of a monstrous OS which lives its own life and demand most of the resources for itself, so people may continue to waste their money for “upgrades”, i.e. for more resource-wasteful and monstrous versions of the so-called “operating system”. OS, by definition, is needed for basic functioning, leaving resources for the main applicatons. Are you one of those who write 3 words in a Word and enter 2 numbers in Excel and the rest of time enjoy the “cool interface”, transparent windows and other useless crap? If not, you know what I mean. I am fed up with crashing applications, endless incompatibility issues of the MS monster, loosing the data and a need to reinstall the whole piece of crap every 3 months with backing up of all my 200,000 working files (excluding media files!) and about 60 applications. Enough!!!! They thought they may issue an especially crappy version (Vista) and anything normal after that will be advertised as “significantly better”, so they can take double the money… Enough!!!!

I’ve just unsubscribed from a mailing list I don’t need. I was redirected to their website to do this. And guess what I’ve read on the confirmation page? Please allow 3-5 business days to update our databases.
The database can be updated from the web interface in real time, isn’t it obvious? 3-5 days? Very nice of them! They don’t have to loose their chance to send their email ads for another few days! Great idea!

yes, this happened again and I’ve received a coffemaker plus sample coffe pack offer from Gevalia ($9.99 + membership). I knew them already (word of mouth) and it looks like they offered really good coffeemakers in the past, so I decided to give it a try and responded to the offer… And here comes the package… I got a small cheap-looking (everything plastic) 1-mug coffemaker with filterless design. All right, let’s see what it can do. I followed the gevalia magic instructions to brew their ‘exceptional’ coffee… First, the coffemaker would not stop spilling the hot coffee 2 minutes after it is switched off automatically!!! So, if you think that the 1-mug concept implies getting-coffee-fast, you are mistaken: you need to wait another 3-5 minutes after the coffee is ready to avoid nasty picture of coffee spilled everywhere around this cheap device. Second, the taste is awful… Yes, awful… The Costco’s $8-per-3.5-lb coffee tastes like something exceptional compared to this Gevalia crisis-proof solution… What a surprise… And the paperless plastic filter - believe it or not - doesn’t hold the ground coffee well, and you are going to discover a lot of it on the bottom of your “delicious” cup of coffee.
